Gitin asennus

Git on versionhallintasofta, jota käytetään uusien ohjelmien kehityksessä. Asenna Git Arch Linuxiin komennolla

sudo pacman -S git

Gitin toimintaa voi ohjata luomalla kotihakemistoonsa .gitconfig-asetustiedoston. Oma .gitconfig tiedostoni sisältää:

Tuo tiedosto viittaa edelleen .gitignore-tiedostoon, joka sisältää

*.swp
TAGS

Gitignore-tiedosto käskee Gittiä jättämään huomiotta kaikki .swp-päätteiset tiedostot (Vim-editorin varmuuskopiot) sekä TAGS-nimiset tiedostot (ctags-ohjelman generoima sisällysluettelo).
